At Xavier University we are gifted with the opportunity to show our final thesis project in the gallery with an artists reception.  My show talks about social media through an installation that acts as an alternate dimension. This alternate dimension will highlight all of the different ways social media has come to distort the realities of many millennials, such as myself.

Artist Statement & Final Presentation
I gave up social media, and I didn’t know what was going on.
I was missing out on Facebook invites, funny tweets and pictures of my friends studying abroad. It was crazy the amount of content I was unable to consume without certain apps on my phone.
Social media has become a separate world of likes and shares that determine how popular, or in the case of Instagram “insta-famous”, one can be. This installation simulates the separate world we have created on our devices, as we peer into the filtered and carefully curated lives our friends, celebrities and strangers.
With Infinite Possibilities, the Fear of Missing Out and concluding with Isolation, I invite you to reflect on each dimension of social media.
In a world of superficial likes and the constant need to check in, it is my hope that this installation will encourage you to think about your own social media habits and how it might affect your perception of your reality.
